Editing the video...

Audio editing...

1. Firstly I imported the track into Final cut pro X.
2. Then I cut some of the unnecessary audio at the start of the track- but I kept some otherwise it would go against conventional tracks and sound odd.
3. Then I used the general volume speech bubbles to soften the introduction of the song by graduating the volume.

4. I went on to 'audio enhancements, and added background noise removal at 37%. Any higher and the song sounded distorted and any lower and the quality sounded flat.
5.Then I put hum removal on 50 hz as apposed to 60 hz as I felt it sounded better.
6.Then I increased the over all loudness by 12% (as I was already aware that the song peaked above 0dB -decibels-) a few times and the uniformity by 6% as this made the track sound better.
7. I then went back and altered the peaks as the general rule is that the audio level shouldn’t go over 0 dB ever as the sound resembles crackling. To do this I zoomed into the individual frames of the track and used the “i” and “o” commands to isolate individual peaks in the track. I then used my mouse to drag the volume bar and respective points down as few decimals as I could to reduce the peak.

I will need to more audio changes later to a small section of the track that I feel pauses for too long.

solutions:
  1. Cutting that section on the track down
  2. Playing another section of the track over the top
  3. (Suggested by Pete- the media technician) Introduce a sound effect e.g. rain

Different frame sizes...

The footage taken is two different sizes which has created complications with the editing. The option is to enlarge and crop the bottom and top of the square framed footage taken at the shopping centre or crop the rectangular performance footage by cutting off the edges. I therefore have to try both and see which footage is hindered the least.

Editing...

Rosie and I started to look at the footage today and feel that we have very different ideas of what the video should look like therefore as a result from now onwards we will be working separately.

Second time lucky???...

The shoot went well after some initial hiccups regarding Taygan's whereabouts. Rosie had the clever idea of filming Taygan perform the song all the way through so that we have all the sections we need when we come to editing.
