Like the other two magazine pull outs I analysed a singular
photograph is used as the backdrop for the poster. The photo differs from the
others because it actually features the band rather than an artistic image.
This is good as the band members are recognisable to their fans drawing their
attention to the poster.
Furthermore the poster is also landscape not portrait making
it suitable for billboards and half-a-page advertisements in magazines which as
cheaper.
The centralised text and curving cave walls create a focal
point on the central text and band. The importance of the text correlates to
font size and expresses the title of the album and the release date to be the
most important elements. I don’t feel that it is an issue that the band name is
les significant on the poster as the band is visually represented.
“Transfer” is in an elongated serif typeface which has 50s
connotations and a formal style. The black text contrasts the over exposed
photo well and is much thinner and daintier than the release date and website
font which is bulkier and in my opinion clumsy.
A black strip is shown at the bottom to showcase star
ratings, point of purchases and accredited associations making the album more
appealing and easier to source.
Finally an image of the album cover is shown on the
advertisement making it more familiar to viewers and as a result more likely to
be an impulse purchase.
